MPPT Solar Boost Charge Controller for Electric Vehicles

MPPT Solar Boost Charge Controller for 48V/60V/72V Electric Vehicles

The CANEN SOLAR MPPT boost charge controller is a solar auxiliary charging device for 48V/60V/72V electric vehicles — including electric tricycles, golf carts, and sightseeing carts — available in 450W, 600W, 800W, and 1000W models. Because solar panel voltage is naturally lower than the vehicle's battery voltage, the controller uses a boost-type MPPT circuit to step up the incoming solar voltage so it can properly charge the battery. Rather than fully replacing grid charging, it works as a continuous supplemental charging source during driving or parking, extending range and reducing how often the vehicle needs to be plugged in.

Battery voltage compatibility: 24V / 36V / 48V / 60V / 72V — compatible with lead-acid, lithium, gel, and water batteries.

This controller has an IP30 protection rating and is not waterproof — it must be installed indoors, in the driver's cab, or in a waterproof enclosure; water damage is not covered under warranty. It is a boost-only device (it cannot step down voltage) and cannot function as a standalone charger without a connected solar panel.

What is an MPPT solar boost charge controller used for?

It's used to charge the battery of 48V/60V/72V electric vehicles (such as electric tricycles, golf carts, and sightseeing carts) using solar power during driving or parking, supplementing — not replacing — normal charging.

Can this controller work without solar panels?

No. The MPPT boost charge controller requires a connected solar panel as its power input; it cannot function as a standalone battery charger.

Is this charge controller waterproof?

No. It has an IP30 protection rating, which is not waterproof, so it must be installed in a dry, sheltered location such as the vehicle's cab or a protective enclosure.

What battery types and voltages are compatible?

The controller supports 24V, 36V, 48V, 60V, and 72V battery systems, and is compatible with lead-acid, lithium, gel, and water batteries.

Can this controller reduce (step down) voltage as well as boost it?

No, it is a boost-only device. It can only raise the incoming solar voltage to match the battery voltage; it cannot lower voltage.
